What is Braintree

Braintree is a Payment Service Provider available in over 47 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Singapore, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, and many more. They were acquired by PayPal in 2012. Braintree is currently the payment service provider for all Wise-Sync and Wise-Pay subscription services, and we have found the platform to be very reliable, and easy to use.

They support the following payment types are supported by Wise-Pay:

  • Visa Card
  • Master Card
  • American Express (AMEX)

Using Braintree as an Alternative Merchant

A Wise-Pay subscription includes a standard account with Payrix. If you would like to use Braintree as an alternative provider to Payrix, an additional fee will be charged as part of your plan. This is in addition to any charges that will be charged directly by Braintree.

Configuring Payments via Braintree

To configure your Braintree Merchant, you’ll need to obtain your credentials for Braintree and then set up your Wise-Pay Merchant Account. 

Locate your credentials for Braintree

Braintree uses a Public Key, Private Key, Merchant ID and Merchant Account ID for payment processing. You'll need these credentials to be configured into Wise-Pay to accept payments and here is how you find them.

API keys

The Merchant ID, public and private keys together make up your API keys. To find your API Keys: 

  1. Login to your Braintree production account
  2. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner
  3. Click API from the drop-down menu
  4. Scroll to the API Keys section
  5. Click the View link located in the Private Key column. 
  6. Take note of the Public Key, Private Key, and Merchant ID

If no API keys appear, click the Generate New API Key button.

Merchant account ID

To find your Merchant Account ID:

  1. In your Braintree account, click on the gear icon in the top right corner
  2. Click Business from the drop-down menu
  3. Scroll to the Merchant Accounts section

From here you'll see the merchant account IDs in the first column for each account.

Configure your Wise-Pay Merchant account

Once you have obtained the required credentials, you can configure your Merchant Configuration for Braintree. To configure your merchant account, read Merchant Configuration.

FAQ - I already have a Braintree Account. Can I continue to use it?

If you would like to use your current Braintree account as an alternative provider, an additional fee will be charged as part of your plan. This is in addition to any charges that will be charged directly by Braintree. As you already have an account; you will need to record the following information: - API Key API Password

Note: Wise-Pay is not able to provide any further support until your account application, or access the account once it has been established.
